Memoirs of a Slacker
I know. Mine will not be as
tragic as Sayuri's, or as
exciting, or as
glamorous, but surely the last few years of my life can be condensed into a reasonably hefty novel. I should have started with my novel a long time ago, because now, pictures keep disappearing from the pages, and I'd have to stare hard at a page long enough for me to discern what it depicts. Don't know why I'm feeling so
melancholic now, like Orsino, and this gets me irritated becasue I don't even like Orsino. Maybe its just cuz, when I get "there", I won't have any of my white noises surrounding me anymore.
Like the sound of the fan whirring at night next to my bed, the bubbling regularity of the fish tank, the arguing of my brothers that can be audible from upstairs, the sizzling of oil on the wok when my mother cooks lunch, the clang of the gates when they close, the soft yet comforting hum of my loyal and much-loved Pentium III, the gentle plasticky thumping of the window blinds on the glass, the barking from the dogs every time the postman farts by, the smooth whisper-like sound of my father's car returning from work, the light pattering of spray from the water hose, the nonsensical tunes my brother hums while chewing dinner, the deep rumble of their school bus arriving at our gate... But so far, all these are sounds.
I'd also pine for the reassuring sight of my room, so familiar I can navigate around with my eyes closed and a hand tied behind my back. I'd miss knowing when that unreliable glass bookshelf of mine would collapse and bring down all my precious comics. I'd miss the frenzied hungry swimming of my fish if they've been off food. I'd miss coming down the stairs, knowing where to step if I didn't want to be heard. I'd missed teasing my brothers every chance I got, or when I just felt bored or cheeky. I'd miss the slight rasp of my fingers against my keyboard.
If you'd tell me what I'd miss most of all, well, it would sound a bit weird but I'd miss the clicking my mother's dentures make when she fiddles with it. Oh, and the click of the front door opening and closing, not to mention the alarm and the way it says "
Security Off" in this robotic lady's voice after the password's entered.
Oh man, I am
SO not going to get nostalgic. I haven't even
left yet!!!

Auld Lang Syne
Wow. Didn't know I was going to be so
busy today. Went out with the
OBAU gang again, and the feeling was just so wonderful. We were together again even though we would be apart. Met at Heartland's Mcdonalds at about ten, and ate
Big Breakfast. What I miss most about the big breakfast? The McMuffin, haha. We talked mostly about how guys were becoming more gay, how people flirted, about the new school environments, about the teachers, about everything in general, then took a picture, a 纪念照, so
fun. Actually we wanted that 帅哥 in the corner to help us take the photo, but we ended up asking the friendly Mcdonalds' staff, who good-naturedly complied with our demands (okay, it doesn't really sound THAT bad), haha.
By the way, I sprinkled lots of black pepper on the
egg, but still there was hardly any taste. Oh well, I tried. The hash brown was too salty. Bleh. Oh, before I forget, JY gave me this
huge box of Ferrero Rocher and Fanny gave me this really
funkeh photo frame, so touched. Sylvia gave me her time in the afternoon, and that is as good as any gift, since time is money. I felt so
touched, especially when I read JY's and Fanny's cards to me...boohoo...don't wanna say goodbye... On a lighter note, we ended up taking lots and lots of neoprints at that new machine in Heartland, and it was great. The machine, the huge one with two cubicles, had no time limit for decoration, so the four of us just relaxed and had fun and
squealed a lot while decorating, it was so hilarious. Kept putting weird things like
shit and tooty
chickens on each others' faces and deleted them, then put some more, wahahaha!!!
After that bombastic neoprint session, Fanny had to go off, after which I bought
Athrun and
Cagalli keychains to attach to my jacket zippers (they look so cute together, sigh...). Rushed all the way down to Dhoby Gaut later with JY, dragging Sylvia along, for my CT outing. To tell the truth, didn't really end up going out with my CT. Went roaming around Plaza Singapura with Sylvia 大姐 instead. In the end, had lots of fun,
blistered feet and lots of profits.
Am currently feeling quite excited. Bought two squeeze bottles of fabric paint to deco my boring house Tees, can't wait to design, whee!!! Hmm... also bought two
cool books from SAN Bookshop and Octopus Takoyaki!!! Oh man,
I JUST LOVE TAKOYAKI!!! A must-do if you ever visit PS would be to try the Takoyaki at Wow Tako, if not, you'll never ever get a taste of heaven.
Right after dinner, going to visit my cousin's newborn baby
boy. Three cheers for her, since she's fulfilling our PM's wish for S'pore, haha! Can't wait to see the baby lah, bet he's gonna be so
kawaii! Oh, bought another Nintendo DS game for my bros again. Their collection of DS games is just so
pathetic, they hardly touch the machine!!!
Hmm... yep, so I guess this ends my day. I wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Oh, there's this cool phrase JY left on her card to me. In case any of you out there wanna say something nice to a good pal, say this:
"
A ring is round and has no end, that's how long you'll be my friend."

Back From The Grave
Haha, not quite that, exactly, but its
pretty close. Pon school for three days to go chinese new year visiting, whee! Well, enjoyed it while it lasted, didn't have to move a
single brain cell during the whole trip, plus my purse has grown perhaps a little larger. It's going to
deflate as soon as all that excess gets into the bank. Sigh... Not going to school from now until I leave. Funny, when I do have the opportunity to go, I don't like it. When I don't, I miss it.
Figures.
Kept stopping over at Shah Alam to eat at
Giant. I sort of perceive it as my school canteen now. Stayed at my cousin's (quite reclusive he is, hides in his room all day like a
tortoise in its shell, anti, if you ask me) and played Final Fantasy 10. It's a
cool game, although I don't like Yuna. Tidus is cool, and
Rikku rawks!! Although she's a rather weak fighter, haha, she's just got this attitude I prefer to Yuna's I'm-gonna-sacrifice-myself-for-the-good-of-all thing.
Felt so bad when I got my "free" earrings. It's like going "Hi! Since I'm your relative and you own a jewellery shop, how about a
cny present?" Aaahh...not going to think about that again,
nightmare. Did I do anything really interesting? Well, I'm not sure what you'd call interesting but went to Pulau Pinang and played at the
beach. It was cool, people were doing parachuting, pulled along by speedboats, and there were
HORSES!!! You could ride them along the beach! Sigh....unfortunately, I couldn't, oh well. There's always next time...
Visited some people there too, then went to this
seafood restaurant called Hilly Town etc. etc. We waited for eternity until the food came, and when it did, well, let's just say I wasn't too impressed. We could have eaten at a hotel with the money used to pay for that meal. Lesson learnt, I guess.
What I miss most about the trip? That would be the lack of
luxury. We slept on matresses, ate sidewalk food, went on foot and blah blah blah... No hotels, no rented cars, no queen-sized bed, no constant air-conditioning etc. Now that was
fun. Okay, I'm just lucky my fishes didn't give out on me during the trip. Here's what I'd like to say now:
My
low-maintenence fishes rule!!!
